Japan and robots part no. You just mention you want a robot how and can do what, I’m sure, Japan must have one for everyone. Server robots, cooking robots, employee replacement robots, or the latest robots for football.
From sports technology company Air Digital, they have come up with Goalkeeper Teppeki-kun. That is a goalkeeper robot that can prevent the ball from entering the goal. The robot is powered by an artificial intelligence system with the ability to block 99% of the ball entering the goal. Also available are difficulty level settings for training purposes, an automatic mode that assesses the way a football player is doing as well as a miss mode that deliberately gives goalkeepers a chance not to feel frustrated.
The robot has a camera and a fast image processing system to track the ball in the seconds before it is kicked and follow it when it is after it is kicked. With this camera as well, it can record video of the kick for player reference as well as provide details of the speed of the kick. The robot also has a security system that can avoid colliding with humans if there are players near it.
Goalkeeper Teppeki-kun is a robot that will be installed in sports training centers such as those in shopping malls. The robot is currently in Japan at Sports 60 & Smart in Ario Washinomiya, Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture. It is a sports center full of high -tech sports training equipment.
Of course, this goalkeeper robot is only for training and not to replace a real goalkeeper. But don't be surprised if one day, there will be a football match between the robots only.
Seven years ago Captain Tsubasa creator Yoichi Takahashi tried to kick this ball on Teppeki-kun’s Goalkeeper prototype which is the Super Great Robo Goalkeeper or S.G.R.G.K. The name was given in conjunction with the Super Great Goal Keeper (S.G.G.K), namely Genzo Wakabayashi in the anime series Captain Tsubasa.
