Rumors of Samsung Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy S23 Will Use MediaTek Chip

Samsung flagship phones usually use Qualcomm or Exynos chips. But it looks like Samsung will install a MediaTek chip for its latest generation of flagship phones.

BusinessKorea reports that Samsung is considering using MediaTek chips for the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy S23. But the type of MediaTek chip that will be used has not been revealed.

The report says half of the Galaxy S22 FE sold in Asia will use MediaTek chips, while the rest will likely use Snapdragon chips.

The same strategy seems to be applied to the Galaxy S23, which will launch next year. The Galaxy S23 released in Asia is said to be using a MediaTek chip, and others may use a Snapdragon chip, as quoted from Android Authority, Thursday (7/4/2022).

Samsung actually already uses MediaTek chips in some of its phones, but it's limited to entry-level and mid-range phones. If this rumor is true, then this is the first time this South Korean vendor has used chips other than Exynos and Snapdragon in its flagship phone.

But this isn't the first time Samsung has used more than two chip suppliers in its flagship phones. The Galaxy S2, which was launched in 2011, comes with Exynos, Snapdragon, and Texas Instruments chips.

It is not yet known what MediaTek chip will be used in the Galaxy S22 FE which is predicted to launch this year. But rumors are circulating that Samsung will adopt the Dimensity 9000 chipset for this affordable flagship phone.

The Dimensity 9000 itself is the latest flagship chip from MediaTek. Initial benchmark results show Dimensity 9000 could be the main competitor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which is widely used by flagship phones released in 2022.
