Small screen smartphones, under 5 inches, are now increasingly being issued by cellphone manufacturers. The arrival of the iPhone SE 2022 is also considered not to help its popularity much.
"Mobile phone manufacturers continue to issue handsets with screens of 6 inches or more, while the number of compact devices seems to be decreasing every year," said Tom's Guide, quoted by us, Friday (8/4/2022).
The iPhone SE 2022 has a 4.7-inch screen and uses an A15 Bionic-powered processor. However, it seems that market demand is not as expected, so recently, Apple is reportedly cutting production.
"There are several reasons why the production of a specific model may be cut. But the sales trend has been clear for years, that people want a bigger screen," said Avi Greengart, an analyst at Techponential.
In other words, one of the things that the iPhone SE 2022 might consider lacking is its small screen apart from other factors.
Apple itself still believes in compact screens, with the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 13 Mini having a 5.4-inch screen. However, the smartphone model is said to have lower sales compared to the larger variant.
Other manufacturers have started to abandon small form factors. The Pixel 5a from Google used to have a 5.8-inch screen, last year it was 6.3 inches and the Pixel 6a that may come out this year is also a big screen.
While all Galaxy S22 flagship phones from Samsung all have screens larger than 6 inches. Other new phones, such as the Galaxy S21 FE, have a 6.4-inch screen.
A large screen is indeed a necessity today as smartphones have become a mainstay device for accessing applications to watching content. Watching videos and playing games, for example, is certainly more comfortable on a large screen.
