It's no secret that today's cell phones emit radiation, although the levels vary and are harmless. But a recent report reveals which Android phones or cellphones emit the most radiation.

According to a Bankless Times report, some older phones from Google, Sony, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, and ZTE emit the most radiation. The first position is held by the Motorola Edge, followed by the ZTE Axon 11 5G and OnePlus 6T.


This rating is based on the Specific Absorption Ratios (SAR) of each phone. This ratio measures how quickly the body absorbs radio frequency energy from a source, which in this case is a cell phone.



As a result, the Motorola Edge has a SAR value of 1.76 W/kg. Even though the US Federal Communications Commission has set a maximum SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg, as quoted from Android Central, Monday (11/4/2022).


Some of the other phones on this list include the Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL, Pixel 4a, Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, and Xperia ZX1 Compact.


In response to this report, a representative for the Google Pixel team said they have released SAR data for all their phones, including the Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL and Pixel 4a.

"These phones meet all regulatory and compliance guidelines in the countries in which we distribute them," a Google spokesperson said.


"Our newest phones Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have even lower SAR values," he continued.


It should be noted that the results of these SAR tests can be inaccurate due to the large number of variables between one phone and another. In addition, mobile phones whose SAR values ​​are too high and exceed the normal limits of the FCC will also not be allowed to be sold publicly.


The FCC also said there is currently no consistent or credible scientific evidence of health problems caused by exposure to the radio frequency energy emitted by cell phones.


But for users who are still concerned, the FCC recommends keeping your phone or Android phone away from your body and head as much as possible, and using hands-free speakers or accessories to reduce exposure.
