Twitter Will Finally Introduce Tweet Editing

More than a decade and a half of Twitter being present as a social media platform, Twitter has finally confirmed that it will present the edit button feature that other social media platforms already have. This feature has been long awaited and requested by many users

This feature allows users to edit their tweets after they are posted. Thus the presence of this edit button can correct if there are typos or typos without having to sacrifice replies, retweets, or likes that have been obtained.

In his announcement on his Twitter account, as seen Wednesday (6/4/2022) this feature will begin testing for Twitter Blue subscribers in the coming months.

now that everyone is asking…

yes, we've been working on an edit feature since last year!

no, we didn't get the idea from a poll

we're kicking off testing within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months to learn what works, what doesn't, and what's possible.

Twitter's Head of Consumer Product Jay Sullivan said that the edit button has become one of the most requested Twitter features for years.

Even Twitter has been looking for ways to develop the feature in a secure way since last year.

"Without what time limits, controls, and transparency features have been changed, the edit feature can be abused to change the recording of public conversations," Jay wrote on his Twitter account.

"Protecting the integrity of public conversations was our top priority when developing the edit button feature on Twitter."

Previously in 2020 in an interview with Wired, former Twitter CEO Jack was asked about the edit button on Twitter, he also said he was reluctant to add the edit button feature on Twitter.

"The answer is probably never," said Jack Dorsey.

But since being led by Parag Agrawal as Twitter's new CEO, those concerns have changed. Where in 2022 he announced via his Twitter account that his company was working on an edit button feature.

A few days later Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is known to have bought 9.2% of Twitter shares, embarrassed the first tweet to poll his followers on whether Twitter should add an edit button or not.

And of the nearly 4.4 million users who took part in the poll, 73.6% of them chose the "yes" option, which means they want an edit button feature.

Interestingly, the tweet containing the edit button poll uploaded by Musk was commented on by Agrawal who said, "The consequences of this poll will be important. Please choose carefully".
