Apple A16 Will Not Use 4nm Technology Like Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

Leading technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a new statement yesterday that if true would disappoint iPhone users. According to him, the Apple 16 chip for the iPhone 14 will continue to use TSMC's 5nm technology as on the A15 Bionic last year.

This is in contrast to the newly launched Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 4nm technology. Upgrades will be made to the Apple A16’s CPU and GPU to give it an edge over the Bionic A15. The extent of this improvement will only be known when the iPhone 14 launches in September.

From what can be seen over the past five years, Apple’s A series chips easily deliver better performance than chips released by Qualcomm, Samsung, Huawei and MediaTek. Maybe Apple is satisfied with the 5nm technology and is not in a hurry to use 4nm technology which will definitely provide better performance improvements in the future.
