Donald Trump Not Convinced Elon Musk Will Continue Buying Twitter

Former US President Donald Trump also commented on Elon Musk's plan to buy Twitter. Trump's comments came shortly after Musk announced he would delay the Twitter purchase process.

In a post on Truth Social, a rival social media platform to Twitter that he co-founded, Trump said Musk couldn't have bought Twitter at that price. Musk himself offered to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

"There's no way Elon Musk would buy Twitter for such a ridiculous price, especially after realizing that it's a company filled mostly with BOTS and Spam Accounts," Trump said in his post, as quoted from Mashable, Saturday (14/5/2022).

As is known, Musk announced the delay of the Twitter purchase process due to bot problems and spam accounts. He cited a Reuters report on Twitter estimates that said the number of fake accounts and bots was less than 5% of active users.

Musk initially said he was aware of the spam and bot problems on Twitter, and that it would be one of his focuses to fix Twitter. Trump also touched on the bot issue on Twitter in his comments.

"When you get rid of them, if it could be done, what would you have? Not much?" said Trump.

"If it weren't for the ridiculous Billion Dollar cancellation fee, Elon would have long backed off," he continued, referring to the stipulation that Musk must pay $1 billion if he cancels his deal with Twitter.

Trump is now busy revealing his thoughts through Truth Social after being permanently banned by Twitter. Not long ago, Musk said he would unblock Trump and allow him to return to Twitter.

According to Musk, Trump's permanent ban was a bad decision. Even so, the 45th US President claims that he will not return to Twitter even after being allowed to join and will use Truth Social as his social media of choice.
