Edible Tastee Tape Adhesive Tape

A few months ago it caught on social media when a child nearly swallowed the staple wire used on tapai wrappers. Prior to that, there were also cases of children being stabbed in the mouth because a wooden pickaxe was used for the same purpose. Clearly there is a need to produce a more secure system for "binding" food packaging.

Tastee Tape is an adhesive tape designed specifically for use on food. It is made of materials and adhesives that are safe to eat. The idea of producing Tastee Tape existed because of the problem of burito food being open when eaten. Then a sticker that ensures it is always rolled up when eating needs to be produced.

So designers Tyler Guarino, Marie Eric, Rachel Nie, and Erin Walsh of John Hopkins University collaborated to produce Tastee Tape. Because their inventions are still in the process of obtaining patents, the materials used for the tapes and stickers are still kept secret.
