Garmin Launches Bicycle Lights Cum Radar With Built -in Camera To Record Accidents

The hobby of cycling soared in popularity in 2020 after the first phase of PKP was given a leeway. Many buy new bikes and try to get healthier by exercising. But it created a new problem when bicycles were used on the road until the JPJ issued a statement reminding the public of the offenses committed.

The newly launched Garmin Varia RCT715 Radar Camera Tail Light is a bicycle taillight that cums with a radar and video camera that can record clips in the event of an accident.

Radar will alert riders when it detects a vehicle 140 meters behind. It gives a green light notification on the smart watch if no vehicle is detected, yellow when there is a vehicle approaching and red if it detects it is speeding.

The red light on the Varia will flash quickly as the vehicle gets closer so they are aware of the presence of the bike in front of them. In the event of an accident, the video will continue to be stored with storage up to 16GB and at 1080P resolution. It can then be transferred to the phone using the app. The Garmin Varia RCT715 Radar Camera Tail Light is priced at $ 400 (~ RM1762) apiece.
