Horrified, Two Corpses Appear in Lake Due to Climate Change

Lake Mead in the Las Vegas area is usually quite watery. But as droughts become more frequent due to climate change, the lake is getting shallower and there are gruesome discoveries.

Recently, human remains were found in the lake. Not only one, it wasn't until a week later that another human body was found. Authorities were called in to determine the cause of their death.

The first body was found on May 1 and was a possible homicide due to gunshot wounds. Based on his attire, it's likely that he died a long time ago, sometime in the early 1980s.

"This lake has decreased dramatically in the last 15 years. It is possible that we will find many more bodies dumped in Lake Meda," said Ray Spencer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, quoted by CNN.

Warmer temperatures due to climate change have made the drought in the area more acute. Since 1983, it is estimated that the surface of Lake Mead has fallen by more than 52 meters.

The lake is one of the mainstay of water sources for about 40 million people around it. Its capacity is estimated to have fallen by 30%.

It is estimated that there will be more and more strange discoveries in the lake. "If the lake gets shallower again, then it's very likely we'll find more interesting things. Maybe there will be a few more bodies," said Michael Green, an academic at the University of Nevada.

Some suspect the bodies were killed by the mafia. There are also those who think that some unsolved murder cases can find a bright spot if their bodies are found in the lake. Of course, what is also worrying is that climate change must be addressed so that hot temperatures and droughts do not increase.
