Indonesian Internet Connection is a Test of Patience

Nothing is more steadfast than Indonesia's current internet speed, as if it is an expression of patience for people who are surfing in cyberspace. Compared to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is still not exciting.

Based on the Speedtest report as of April 2022, Indonesia's internet connection is ranked 100th out of 142 countries in the world. This position rose one rank compared to the previous month.

Indonesia's average mobile internet speed for downloads can reach 17.96 Mbps, uploads touch 10.22 Mbps, and latency is 27 ms.

This record makes Indonesia only better than Cambodia, but it is still inferior when compared to countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, or Singapore.

Ranking list of countries with the fastest mobile internet speeds in Southeast Asia:

Brunei 66.03 Mbps (ranked 20)

Singapore 64.05 Mbps (ranked 22)

Vietnam 33.86 Mbps (ranked 53)

Thailand 33.77 Mbps (ranked 54)

Malaysia 28.71 Mbps (ranked 68th)

Laos 24.42 Mbps (rating 75)

Philippines 19.45 Mbps (ranked 95th)

Indonesia 17.96 Mbps (rank 100)

Cambodia 16.45 Mbps (ranked 111)

When it comes to fixed broadband internet speed, Indonesia also can't talk much in Southeast Asia.

According to OpenSignal's report as of April 2022, Indonesia's fixed broadband internet speed is ranked 114th out of 181 countries, which is down one place from March. Indonesia's average fixed broadband internet speed for download is 21.43 Mbps, upload is 9.88 Mbps, and latency is 7 ms.

Not much different from mobile internet, Indonesia's fixed broadband is better than Cambodia and Timor Leste, but only pats the chest if you look at other neighboring countries.

Ranking list of countries with the fastest fixed broadband internet speeds in Southeast Asia:

Singapore 207.61 Mbps (rank 1)
