Jeff Bezos in tears with his father's struggles

Even though he is full of wealth, Jeff Bezos is just an ordinary person with feelings. It was illustrated when Jeff Bezos got teary-eyed when he told about the struggles of his father Miguel Bezos, who is a Cuban immigrant. Miguel Bezos started life in the United States at the age of 16 and what he went through was not easy.

The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation some time ago shared a video in which the Amazon founder shared his father's experience at the award ceremony.

"Every immigrant who comes to this country, they have their own unique story. Fighting for a better life, hardships but they also end up having faith in America. They think this place presents an opportunity and it is," Bezos said at the outset.

With a big smile, Bezos began to discuss his father Miguel Bezos.

"It's the same with my father's story. He came from Santiago, Cuba. He was 16 years old. He couldn't speak English, he had to work hard. He had that difficult experience," he said.

Bezos even got teary-eyed when he said he and his siblings wouldn't have had as good a role model as his own father. After the speech, the 58-year-old businessman received hugs and kisses from his father on stage.

Miguel Bezos was awarded the 2022 Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Award for his passion for education. In 2000, Miguel and his wife Jackie founded the Bezos Family Foundation which promotes education and a positive learning environment for children across the US after 32 years at Exxon Mobil.
