WhatsApp is the most widely used short messaging application. But, of course we don't want to be bothered by exploding incoming messages. One way to solve this is to make WhatsApp look offline.
Making WhatsApp look offline doesn't have to be by turning off the internet connection, anyway. There are ways or tricks that can be done to make WA look offline while chatting with other contacts you want.
Citing AppTuts, there are three ways you can do to make WhatsApp look offline without turning off data. See below:
1. Turn off 'Last Seen'
The easiest way is to start turning off the 'Last Seen' feature. This is an indicator that shows when someone is active and online in WA. To turn off Last Seen is easy. First click the three vertical dots in the right corner of the WhatsApp application, then select Settings.
Then select the Account option and go to the Privacy page. Once you're on the Privacy page, click the Last Seen option at the top of the list.
WhatsApp provides three options that users can choose to display their Last Seen, namely for everyone (Everyone), for contacts only (My Contacts), and not shown to anyone (Nobody). Select the Nobody option so that your Last Seen is no longer visible.
2. Disable the blue checkbox
If this feature is turned on, message senders will know you're online because there will be two blue checks below their messages indicating that you've read the chat.
To turn off this blue check mark, go back to the Privacy/Privacy page as in the steps above. Then look for the 'Read receipts' option. You simply click the button next to it to turn off Read Receipts.
3. Hide WhatsApp status
The last thing you can try to look offline on WhatsApp is to hide the Status update. This method can be applied for those of you who often create WhatsApp Status but do not want to be seen by certain people.
The way is simple, first go to the Privacy page as described above. Then find the Status option at the bottom.
After that you will be shown a new window that contains options on how you want to share the Status update. The 'My contacts' option will show your Status to all contacts, 'My contacts except ...' will share your status to all contacts except the people already selected, and 'Only share with' lets you select people who can see the Status update.
