Scientists in China have now published a map of the moon’s most detailed surface to date. The project was accomplished by assembling hundreds of studies over 10 years, and forming a map of the lunar surface.
Through this map, it also shows how the composition and structure of the moon's surface, and allows researchers to better understand the moon.
The United States had previously shared several maps of different surface parts through Apollo missions sent. However, it is not very complete and less accurate because it is assembled according to different times without a set standard.
China is ready to send a number of missions to the moon since last 2004, and is collecting various data to enable them to come up with the most detailed maps so far. Scientists divide the moon into about 30 different parts, and map them using the same standards - then combine all those parts to make a complete map.
For those interested, a full-size map for the month can be downloaded today by all, including viewing data related to it.
