Axiata and Digi have now agreed to extend the final date of the merger agreement between Celcom and Digi until 31 December 2022.
This also shows that Celcom and Digi need additional time to complete the acquisition and merger process. Previously, both parties stated the final date was June 21, 2022, but has now been extended by mutual agreement.
Axiata and Digi also emphasize that all terms and conditions remain the same, and only the deadline is extended.
The MCMC also does not seem to have given the final word regarding this merger, whether it is approved or not.
Previously, Celcom and Digi had expressed a desire to merge, forming the largest telecommunications company in Malaysia.
