Elon Musk's transgender daughter made a request to change her name to match her gender identity. This name change was also proposed to keep his distance from his father.
"I no longer live with or wish to have any relationship with my biological father in any way or form," Musk's daughter wrote in the petition filed with Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Elon's daughter was formerly called Xavier Alexander Musk. In April 2022, she turned 18 and soon filed a petition to change her name according to her gender identity.
In the documents filed, he asked the court to grant his request to change his gender from male to female and register his new name.
The new name he registered was Vivian Jenna Wilson. Wilson's last name is taken from his biological mother, Justine Wilson, who divorced Elon in 2008.
Elon Musk married Justine Wilson in January 2000. After losing their first child, Nevada, in 2002 to sudden infant death syndrome, Musk and Wilson were blessed with twins in April 2004, named Griffin and Xavier.
Two years later, Musk and Wilson welcomed three twins, named Kai, Saxon, and Damian. After divorcing in 2008, Musk and Wilson shared custody of their five children.
In court documents, Vivian did not elaborate on her conflicting relationship with her father. But it looks like he wants to keep his distance from Musk, who has mocked LGBTQ groups on Twitter several times.
In a tweet Musk posted in July 2020, he wrote 'pronouns sucks' but it was deleted after being confronted by musician Grimes who was his then-girlfriend. Months later, Musk mocked people who put pronouns like he/him in Twitter bios.
After being criticized by netizens for his mocking tweets, Musk later defended himself by saying that he actually supports transgender people.
"I totally support trans, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare," Musk said in a tweet posted in December 2020.
