Facebook Online Store Selling "Clothes" Prada, Balenciaga, et al

Meta launched an online store where Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger users can buy digital clothes for their avatars.

Not kidding, Meta immediately peddled digital clothes from various well-known brands such as Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne. The types also vary, from motocross wearpacks, hoodie jackets, to coats.

In a post on Facebook, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised that more brands would be available in the future.

"Digital products will always be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse and boost the creative economy," Zuck wrote in the post.

Recently, luxury clothing brands have started to collaborate with digital companies to create digital clothes. In 2021, Fortnite also released the Balenciaga skin, so players can buy various digital clothes to wear on their characters.

While in Roblox, players can visit Gucci Town, complete with a garden decorated with the Gucci logo and a virtual shop.

Despite cooperating with a number of big names, the launch of this online store is fairly quiet. Meta did not reveal more detailed information about the store, such as when the store began to be accessible.

In a livestream on Instagram, Director of fashion partnership Eva Chen showed Zuck's avatar who was dressed in a t-shirt, low rise jeans, and a white coir.

Not at all similar to the clothes that Zuck usually wears when appearing in public.
