General Motors (GM) is currently planning to introduce a vehicle rental service on the Moon.
With this move, any mission conducted on the Moon by the government or the private sector, can choose to do a vehicle rental service from GM there, and use it while on the surface of the Moon.
GM is working with Lockheed Martin to develop a vehicle specifically for use on the Moon. GM aims to prepare the vehicle before the human mission returns to the moon scheduled around 2025.
The rental vehicles offered this month are expected to also be equipped with self -driving support, and subsequently charged using solar energy. Each vehicle is expected to have a lifespan of 10 years.
