The safety of underage users on various social media is constantly threatened with there being various cases of sexual harassment reported. That’s why Instagram since 2019 has been asking underage users to activate some security features to prevent them from becoming victims. Now that they have finally reached the age of 18, Instagram is introducing several authentication features including using artificial intelligence.
Users who want to change their age to 18 and above are given three options by Instagram. The first option is to upload a photo of the identity card which is then verified by Instagram. Both of them got age confirmation from three friends.
Lastly is to upload a selfie which will then be analyzed by Yoti who has artificial intelligence to guess the age of the user. After confirmation, Instagram and Yoti will delete it.
