Ukraine's presidential adviser and peace negotiator, Mykhailo Podolyak, reveals what weapons Ukraine needs to end the war with Russia.
At this time, Russia is making progress in the strategically located eastern area of Ukraine. To ward off him and even defeat him, Podolyak asked for a lot of heavy weapons from the west to be immediately sent to Ukraine.
The demand was huge. In detail, Podolyak said Ukraine needed 1,000 Howiter cannons, 300 MLRS (M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System) or long-range rocket systems, 500 tanks, 2,000 combat vehicles and 1,000 drones.
At this time, there has been a lot of aid from western countries and consists of various types, but the number is still lacking. Even the US only sent about 4 MLRS units and the UK also in the same number.
The request for weapons by Ukraine will be discussed at NATO headquarters in Brussels, whether it will be granted or not. At the moment, the end of the war with Russia hinges on what weapons Ukraine receives from its western allies.
"Everything now depends on what the west gives us," said Vadam Skibitsky, deputy head of Ukrainian military intelligence, quoted by the Guardian, Wednesday (15/6/2022).
Previously, it was reported that Ukraine had run out of weapons from the Soviet Union era because they were used or destroyed by opponents. So their fate really depends on help from NATO.
"The Russian army is more powerful, they have a lot of artillery and ammunition. For now, what is happening is an artillery war and we are running out of ammunition. Help from Europe and America is very, very important," he said.
