Maybank: Beware Of Android Malware That Steals Banking TAC Numbers

Maybank is now warning consumers, to be wary of malware attacking Android users who steal banking information via smartphones.

This malware can also view SMS sent to a user's phone, including obtaining a TAC number, simultaneously performing transactions and transferring money from a user's account.

People are asked to be careful and not to install any APK files on their smartphones, which are not from official sources. You are also required to only install banking applications from official sources through the official app store only.

For Maybank users and a few others as well, you can be more careful by using features like SecureTAC on smartphones for any transactions, which do not rely on SMS.
