NASA was surprised when the Perseverance rover exploring Mars found a shiny object. What's that?
News.com reported that Australia, as seen Monday (20/6/2022) Perseverance found the shiny object on an expedition to explore the Red Planet. The shiny object was like a sheet of metal wedged into the rock.
Of course there is speculation whether it is an alien relic? However, upon further investigation, it seems not.
The Sun reported that NASA experts were shocked. But after being traced it was a loose part of the thermal blanket on the rocket that helped Perseverance land on Mars in 2021 ago.
The proof is the numerous small dots on the shiny object that mark the characteristics of a thermal blanket. A NASA spokesman told CNET it must have been a thermal blanket, but wasn't sure which side of the rocket it was from.
"Not sure which side of the spacecraft this is on and why it's there, the team thought it might have been during the landing stages," said Andrew Good of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
The landing site is 2 km from the discovery site. The NASA team thought it might have been blown off by the wind.
Related to this, some netizens finally criticized NASA. The discovery means that NASA has trashed on the Planet Mars.
"Humans haven't been there yet, but they have already taken out the trash," said one netizen.
"We humans have managed to throw garbage there, even before we set foot," quipped another netizen.
