Galaxy A52 is successful in the market, it is not surprising that Samsung then worked on its successor. And last April, a device called Galaxy A53 5G was officially launched.
As a successor, Samsung provides a number of improvements to the Galaxy A53. But does all that make this cellphone worthy of being a daily driver?
The answer is very yes. After we have used it for the past two months, the Galaxy A53 can become a reliable partner in our daily activities. Here's a review of the Galaxy A53.
Design
Galaxy A53 comes with four choices of pastel colors which are quite fresh. There are awesome black, awesome blue, awesome white and awesome peach that we reviewed.
Although the material is plastic, Samsung provides a smooth matte finish that provides comfort when the phone is held.
The camera part is a bit protruding but it is made to blend with the back cover giving a slick impression. While the frame is made glossy whose color is made to blend with the back shell.
Samsung provides excellent protection on this cellphone. There is Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and the most special IP67 certificate which HP does not have in the same class.
It's just that the Galaxy A53 does not include a 3.5 mm audio jack port.
Screen
The Galaxy A53 and its predecessor both carry a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution. The difference is that Samsung increased the refresh rate to 120 Hz from 90 Hz, and the thinner bezel size gives a more immersive impression.
The screen quality is unquestionable. The activities of watching streaming videos or playing games on the Galaxy A53 are equally satisfying.
The colors displayed are not only rich but also sharp and bright. Even in the hot sun, the screen is still clearly visible.
Audio is impressive too, with stereo sound delivered by Samsung's included speakers. Do not miss the Dolby Atmos support which makes the viewing experience through this cellphone even more exciting.
Camera
The composition of the a52 and A53 cameras is no different. The main camera is both 64 MP, coupled with a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, 5 MP macro and 5 MP depth.
Likewise, Samsung promises better quality shots of the A53 because of the use of a new chipset and improved AI capabilities. Sure enough, when we tried it, the results of this HP camera were beautiful in all conditions.
Performance
The Galaxy A52 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 720G. While the Galaxy A53, Samsung embeds a homemade chip, the Exynos 1280 which is made using 5 nm fabrication, promising 20% better CPU performance than before.
The claim is quite proven. When using this cellphone for various tasks at the same time it is not slow. Playing the game runs smoothly without any problems.
However, if you compare the Galaxy A52s, the performance of this cellphone has not been able to overtake it. This is at least proven by the Geekbench test. Here's the comparison:
Geekbend test
Galaxy A53 5G
Single Core 727
Multicore 1756
Galaxy A52s
Single Core 762
Multicore 2807
Galaxy A53 is equipped with 8 GB of RAM. Users can turn it into 16 GB by using the RAM Plus feature.
Battery
The Galaxy A53 carries a 5,000 mAh battery which is claimed to last up to 2 days. After we tried it for 2 weeks, this phone can last almost a full day when used to record, edit, and upload video content.
It's just that the cellphone becomes a bit hot if it is used for more than an hour non-stop. To recharge the battery, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is equipped with a 25W fast charging feature.
When tested, the charging process from 0 to 100 percent takes about 1 hour 15 minutes using a third-party 65W charger. Because Samsung does not include a charger in the sales package and is purchased separately.
Our Opinion
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G provides a complete package at a price of IDR 5 million. The design is attractive, the screen is pleasing to the eye, the performance is smooth and water resistant.
Another plus is that Samsung guarantees Android updates for up to four years. This means that Galaxy A53 users will get the Android 16 update. This is rarely found on other Android phones.
But if you have a tight budget, you can consider the Galaxy A52s which is faster in performance and is still provided with a charger in the sales package.
