Samsung's latest QLED 8K television was just launched in Malaysia a few weeks ago. The advantage of this panel is that it does not display the OLED burn-in problem but at the same time displays a dark black color. Now QLED technology that was previously exclusive to TVs will be used on entertainment systems in American Airlines aircraft starting in 2023.
American Airlines announced the use of an infohibur system in Thales AVANT aircraft that uses a Samsung QLED -based Optiq screen with 4K HDR resolution. The Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787-9 aircraft will be equipped with 17 ″ QLED screens on first class seats, 13.3 ″ QLED on premium economy class and 11.6 QLED on economy class all with touch support.
The Thales AVANT system also offers a 60Q USB-C charging system on the passenger seat. Although the screen is now larger, the size of the system is still the same as improvements were made to the smaller bezel size.
