Lately, one of the hottest things many have been talking about is space tourism-led by some of the richest individuals, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and even Richard Branson.
In any case, this worries a number of scientists - saying it may have an impact on the ozone layer that protects the earth.
The ozone layer is part of the atmosphere made up of O3 oxygen molecules, protecting the earth from ultraviolet radiation emitted by the sun. A thinning layer, or “leakage” can lead to an increase in temperature on Earth.
Previously, in 1987, the Montreal Protocol was introduced in regulating a number of chemicals in enabling the ozone layer to be repaired.
This latest study takes into account about 103 rockets launched in 2019, and says frequent weekly space tours may have impacted the success of the previous Montreal Protocol.
