Twitter is officially testing a new feature called Twitter Notes. As the name implies, this feature allows users to tweet longer like writing a blog or taking notes in the notes application.
Twitter says the new Notes feature is available to a handful of users in the UK, US, Canada and Ghana. However, posts made using the Notes feature can already be read by users in most countries, both directly on Twitter and outside.
Twitter users who have the opportunity to take part in this trial can access the Notes feature via the 'Write' tab. In this tab, users can write new Notes and see a list of Notes they have written.
Twitter will also display a 'Notes' tab on users' profiles which will display a long list of their notes to make them easier for followers to find.
With this feature, Twitter users can write long articles with formatting settings and add media such as photos, videos, GIFs, and other tweets to it.
Like tweets in general, Notes will also have its own link and can be uploaded as a tweet, retweeted, sent via DM, liked, and tagged using bookmarks, as quoted from TechCrunch, Friday (24/6/2022).
Actually the existence of the Notes feature on Twitter has long been rumored. In May, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong uploaded several screenshots showing new features called Twitter Notes and Twitter Articles.
This new feature will certainly be very useful for Twitter users who often like to write long threads or upload screenshots of their own writings made in the notes application so they can display more characters.
The presence of the Notes feature also marks one significant change for Twitter, a platform known for its short text content. As is known, when Twitter was first launched users were only given a limit of 140 characters for one tweet. That limit was later doubled to 280 characters in 2017.
