Electric vehicles are the future that can no longer be denied. The world is warming so drastic measures to reduce pollution need to be done as soon as possible. But battery -powered electric vehicles (BEVs) have the problem of not having long operating distances making them not ready to replace diesel cargo trucks for example.
Volvo this week began testing the truck that uses hydrogen fuel. Trucks with hydrogen cells are believed to be able to travel up to 1000 kilometers before the tank needs to be refilled. The recharging process is also fast around 15 minutes which is still much faster than the time taken to recharge the vehicle battery.
In addition to reducing pollution, hydrogen cell trucks are also attractive because they only emit water in the form of steam during operation. The use of hydrogen cell trucks will not replace battery-powered trucks as the two have different uses. Volvo will offer this hydrogen cell truck to customers for testing in a few years before offering it commercially after 2025.
