TikTok is one of the popular inforia applications that many people use from day to day. Speaking of which, it is now known that 1/4 of TikTok users are from Southeast Asia.
TikTok itself has previously shared that over 800 million videos are produced in the region every month, and generate over 1 trillion views every month.
With high user numbers, the Southeast Asian region is also the first to receive a feature, such as TikTok Stories, and also TikTok Shop.
However, now Bytedance is seen to be facing challenges in generating revenue through users in this region. Although 25% of TikTok users are from Southeast Asia, it is said that only around 2.8% of revenue is generated in this region compared to other locations globally. For now, Bytedance is looking at several methods to continue increasing revenue generation in the region, including one of which is to focus on e-commerce on the platform.
