China More Focus On Developing Operating Systems Competing With Windows And MacOS

In further accelerating the development of its own operating system, China has established Kylinsoft. Most recently, in further accelerating the development of the operating system and adding various new supports and features, now an open source community has been established, called openKylin.

The development of this distinctive operating system was in an effort to reduce China’s dependence on the west, especially the United States.

As many are aware, Huawei previously relied on Android for their smartphones. But, due to US government barriers, their business was affected, and now Huawei has developed its own ecosystem under HarmonyOS.

As for computer operating systems, in China, almost 74% of the market share is by Windows. In an effort to reduce dependency, this Kylin operating system was developed.

Kylin was originally developed for the military, but has been expanded to commercial use since last 2014. Today, Kylinsoft is offered for a number of CPU configurations, and the most popular is the V10 which can also run on Huawei's HiSilicon chip.

With the introduction of openKylin, it is not impossible that we see the development of this operating system more drastic and fast, in addition to more extensive development.
