Google Pixel 6a Reportedly Can Be Unlocked With Anyone's Finger

Google Pixel 6a is a new mid-range device from Google. Despite being in the mid-range, this device is still powered by a flagship device chip, the Google Tensor – the same chip used in the Pixel 6 Pro.

The device is already on sale in the US market and it seems that people are starting to report serious security issues. Although the device is protected with Google's own security chip, the Titan M2 – it still cannot protect users well.

Some users are starting to report that their Pixel 6a devices have fingerprint scanner issues. One user reported that even if the other finger registered the fingerprint, the unregistered finger could also unlock the device. The worst reported issue is that anyone's finger can unlock the device.

The Pixel 6a uses a different fingerprint sensor than the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which is seen to have faster performance. But if it's fast and there's a security issue what's the point? This issue can probably be fixed with a firmware update, if it happens to the majority of users – otherwise these users can just return the device to Google and get a new device.
