The Ministry of Works today launched a new project, the Highway Digital Network Project. Through it, the MSAR company will build and operate fiber optic cables along the highways under the supervision of the Malaysian Highway Valley. The project was developed using private funds.
The project will be developed in three phases of construction in Peninsular Malaysia. The first phase involves the installation of fiber optic cable from Johor Bahru to Bukit Kayu Hitam, and is expected to be completed in December 2022.
Next in Phase 2, it will involve highways in the Klang Valley. Phase 3 connects the east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia.
Through this project, a total of 4,000 contact points that connect cities and rural areas with high broadband coverage will be enjoyed by the people. This infrastructure will also connect various local data centers, in addition to connections to other major cables.
With this move as well, it will enable a wide range of infrastructure offerings, as well as can be used by related parties in offering their respective services.
