Many Nothing Phone Users (1) Report Screen Problems And Dead Pixels

Nothing Phone (1) was already launched last week. The device is already on sale in select countries and in less than a week of use, many are reporting that the device is starting to experience serious screen problems.

Many users are seen experiencing screen blindness problems, where when the device is in dark mode or there is a dark image displayed - a green colored effect will appear. It happens randomly, some happen at the top of the screen and some even at the bottom. Users who have claimed a warranty and received a new device are also said to experience the same problem within minutes of use.

Not only that, some other users also reported that their devices had problems as if the pixels were dead on the camera hole on the screen. Like the screen problem earlier, a green effect will appear.

What’s funny here is, this green screen blindness issue isn’t the first time it has happened with a product involving Carl Pei. This issue once occurred in 2020, when Carl Pei was still with OnePlus again. It happens on OnePlus Nord devices as well as OnePlus, for which a screenless issue occurs if the device is at a brightness below 25%.

This issue can be in two parts, one is the screen color profile settings which may be changed through a software update. Second, it may be due to poor quality screen panels. For now, the majority of reports of problems with this device occur in India and no reports of this problem occur for users of other countries such as in Europe. Hopefully the version that will be sold in Malaysia later will not have this problem.

Nothing Phone (1) comes with a 6.55-inch 120Hz OLED screen, powered by a Snapdragon 778G+chip, uses a 50MP dual-camera, as well as has a unique LED lighting system dubbed the Glyph. The device will be sold in Malaysia at a starting price of RM2399.
