Facebook changed the company's name to Meta to show that they are serious about developing a metamesta platform that is expected to replace the current use of the web. But in the United States, Meta is now being sued by MetaX LLC over the use of the name causing their business to suffer.
According to MetaX, they hold the trademark of the Meta name. This company was early involved in producing the world of virtual reality and augmented reality (AR). At the same time the trademark using the name Meta is also held by MetaX. Since Facebook changed the company name, MetaX claims their business is affected because they can no longer use the Meta branding. The company asked the court to impose an injunction to stop Meta from continuing to use their trademark.
