Leading camera manufacturer, Nikon will now withdraw from producing SLR cameras, and focus more on digital offerings such as mirrorless cameras.
As many are aware, Nikon SLR cameras are very popular and widely used by many professional photographers around the world. Still, with competition from smartphones, it’s having an impact on Nikon’s camera business.
The SLR camera industry itself has seen a contraction in recent years, and mirrorless cameras have outperformed SLR cameras in terms of sales figures. The last time Nikon released an SLR model was in June 2020, via the Nikon D6 SLR model.
For now, Nikon is expected to maintain production of existing SLR models as usual, while also focusing on mirrorless cameras.
