Qualcomm Claims Samsung Galaxy S23 Only Uses Snapdragon Chip

Recently, rumors emerged claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip completely. It looks like the claim will come true and even confirmed directly by Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon.

As is known, Samsung changed the composition of the distribution of the Galaxy S22 series. Previously, Samsung's flagship phones with Snapdragon chips were limited to the United States, South Korea and a few other countries, but in the Galaxy S22 series, the Snapdragon variant is present in more countries while the Exynos variant is only available in Europe.

In a Q&A with analysts following Qualcomm's quarterly financial announcement, Amon revealed that 75% of Galaxy S22 units carry the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Amon said this percentage will increase from next year onwards.

"And what I can say right now is that we were at 75% of the Galaxy S22 before the agreement. You have to think that we will be much better than that on the Galaxy S23 and beyond," said Amon, as quoted by SamMobile, Friday (29/29/2011). 7/2022).

Previously, Qualcomm announced the renewal of its chip supply agreement with Samsung for the next seven years until 2030. This agreement covers not only the supply of chips for mobile phones but also PCs, tablets, extended reality, and more.

Amon added Qualcomm will master Samsung devices globally. Although Amon didn't say 100% of the Galaxy S23 units will use the Snapdragon chip, his comments indicate that Samsung will no longer rely on Exynos for its flagship phones.

Even so, that doesn't mean Samsung will stop producing Exynos chips. After announcing financial reports for Q2 2022, Samsung confirmed that it is reorganizing its system-on-chip business and drawing up plans to improve its competitiveness.

Recent rumors indicate Samsung set up a 'Dream Team' of over 1,000 employees to develop high-end custom chips

new for Galaxy S series. In order to stay focused on this development, Samsung will reportedly not launch flagship Exynos chips in 2023 and 2024.

Many mid-range and entry-level Samsung phones use the Exynos chipset, so there's no way this processor will just turn off. This South Korean vendor is also looking for new customers to use Exynos chips.
