Scientist: Messi is twice as good as Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi is often compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, even though the two are no longer in the same league. But a study once said that Messi was twice as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.

This is research from SciSports in collaboration with Universidad Católica in Leuven, Belgium. It was revealed that the Argentine player was twice as good as CR7.

"The value of a player is often pegged in terms of goals and assists. Goals are actually a rare occurrence, because on average there are 1,600 incidents in a match," said Prof Jesse Davis.

For this research, researchers took various action models such as shots, passes, dribbles, and tackles. This performance was observed from their 2013-2018 appearance.

The result, Messi is higher by scoring 1.21 while Ronaldo scored 0.61. Interestingly, the period under study was the Portuguese player's most successful time with Madrid. They won four Champions Leagues and personally, Ronaldo won four Ballon d'Or. In the same period, Messi won one victory each.

The study concluded that Messi plays more with the ball, creates more chances and has more effect on the outcome of the game than Ronaldo.

But in football, there are more things than numbers. There is art, passion and other aspects that can determine a person to be a champion in the heart of every football lover.
