Western Digital Updates Hard Drive Offering With 22TB Storage Options

Yesterday we reported that the demand for hard drives has dropped sharply on a global scale, regardless of the sector of use. Recently, at the What's Next Western Digital Event, the Western Digital storage brand seems to be moving forward with new storage offerings.

The company showed an update to their three storage models, namely WD Red Pro, WD Purple Pro and WD Gold by introducing a 22TB storage option on these three models. For WD Red Pro, it is commonly used for NAS storage devices for those who want more secure control of important data.

WD Purple Pro is used for surveillance purposes, especially when cameras that can record video at high resolution are used more widely. This storage is seen to be able to store high-resolution recordings from several cameras at once, in addition to allowing existing recordings to be streamed at the same high resolution at the same time.

WD Gold, on the other hand, is a hard drive that was built specifically for data centers that on average store a very large amount of data, and with this new storage option, it can be used with less space, but a greater amount of storage.

All of the new storage shown comes with an MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) usage rate as high as 2.5 million hours.

Western Digital says that these storages have been introduced in selected markets since June this year.
