Wow! 2-year-old Boy Becomes Youngest Member of Genius Club

A two-year-old girl has officially become the youngest member of Mensa, the club for geniuses with high IQs. The boy named Isla McNabb managed to join Mensa because of his extraordinary level of intelligence for a child his age.

Amanda McNabb, Isla's mother, said her daughter first demonstrated her extraordinary intelligence through her fascination with the alphabet.

"He's always had an affinity for the alphabet, so we gave him all kinds of blocks and magnets — lots of copies of the alphabet — and I noticed that my cat would have a C next to it, and then I would be given an M," Amanda said. Independent, Sunday (3/7/2022).

Even though she is only two years old, her family says that Isla could learn to read on her own and now has an extensive vocabulary. When she was first taught to read, the vocabulary that Isla understood was around 100 words, and now it has grown to more than 500 words.

Thinking that their son had a hidden talent, Isla's parents took him to a pediatrician. To the doctor, Isla's parents said that their daughter could read at the age of two.

The doctor didn't believe it right away and thought that Isla could only memorize the stories and words that were taught to her. Until then Isla was shown a poster on the wall and could read all the words on the poster.

Isla's intelligence is not only limited to reading. He can also count and perform simple mathematical calculations, including subtraction. When given crayons, Isla also began to be able to write 'mom'.

"We had suspected that Isla might have been gifted since she was a baby, but she started developing reading and writing skills rapidly from the age of two, and then it started to become clear that something special was going on," Amanda said.

Amanda then looks for a psychologist who can do an IQ test. After being tested, Isla's level of intelligence according to the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales was at the level of 'superior' and 'very superior' in all categories.

After the test results came out, Isla officially became the youngest member of Mensa, the largest and oldest club of geniuses whose members have an IQ score of the top 2% of the population. Mensa will also provide special support for Isla and her family, especially when Isla is already in school.

After Isla joined Mensa, her father Jason McNabb said he would let his daughter take control on her own. Because she is already good at reading and counting, it is likely that Isla will not go to kindergarten and jump straight to school.

"He's taken us down a very interesting path, but we'll let him take control and see where it leads from there," said Jason, who is also a member of Mensa.

"Hopefully this will lead to a scholarship - maybe Harvard or MIT someday," he concluded.
