Digital Wellbeing May Prevent Android Users From Using Third-Party Launchers

The advantage of using an Android device is that it gives the user the freedom to make the device more personalized to each user. Users can perform various customizations such as using third-party launchers, changing themes, changing icons and more.

But misfortune befell many users of Android 10 and Android 11 devices, when their devices were found unable to use third-party launchers in the long run. Launchers like Nova Launcher, Action Launcher, Lawnchair and many more cannot become the default launcher even if it is changed in the device's system settings.

Many report that every midnight, the device will return to using the original launcher from the device manufacturer and there are also every time to the home screen have to go back to choose the launcher. The actual issue remains to be identified, but there is a good chance that it is caused by Digital Wellbeing.

Users facing this issue seem to be able to resolve the issue after turning off Digital Wellbeing. Nova Launcher is also not sure why this is happening and there is still no real solution to use third-party launchers properly.

Digital Wellbeing is a system that monitors user device usage patterns such as to ensure users do not experience obsessions, offers a bedtime mode feature to not use the device when it's time to sleep, a focus mode for users to focus on work instead of being active on the device and much more.

For now, users facing this issue just need to turn off Digital Wellbeing to continue using the third-party launcher.
