Infinix Note 12 VIP Review
Design
Previously, the Infinix Note 12 VIP, launched globally last May. Then it didn't take long until they finally arrived at the market.
On this occasion, we ourselves had the opportunity to try out the toughness of their new smartphone. Incidentally, we have a Cayenne Gray color variant.
In terms of the packaging design, it's not too different from the Infinix Note 12, where the difference is in the gradation and a little glossy ornament near the Note 12. However, when it comes to performance, it's clearly very different.
When dissecting the contents of the cardboard, users will be confronted by several items, such as the Infinix Note 12 VIP itself, a manual, starter card, case, tempered glass, SIM tray ejector, USB Type-C cable, and a 120W HyperCharge charger head. Talking about body shape, it looks like Infinix wants to bring a stylish and elegant impression.
The body material is made of aerospace grade fiberglass. The back applies a matte finish, which brings a premium impression.
If you look at the back cover, there is a frame that has a width almost equivalent to the size of a smartphone. Then combined with three main cameras, flash, and of course the VIP logo.
Still on the back, there is also the Infinix logo, which is positioned on the bottom left of the smartphone. The logo is made somewhat transparent, with a glossy touch.
So it looks more elegant, because there are not too many ornaments or flashy decorations. Moving away from the bottom area of the smartphone, there are four small holes that act as a speaker, microphone, Type-C charger plug, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Turning to the right side, there is a power button that is also useful for a fingerprint scanner and there is a volume button. While on the left, there is only a slot for two nano sim cards and one micro sd.
If you look at the top, there are two small holes that act as speakers and one hole serves as a microphone. The weight itself is not too heavy at only 198 grams, and the dimensions are quite thin, measuring 163.7 x 76.7 x 7.89 mm.
If you are aware, this smartphone has dual speakers. The speakers are equipped with Digital Theater Sound (DTS) technology, to provide a more satisfying experience of listening to music, watching videos, or playing games.
Screen
Infinix Note 12 VIP is ready to spoil the eyes of its users, by bringing a Super Light AMOLED panel screen that supports 10-bit, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. The size itself reaches 6.7 inches, with Full HD + resolution (2400x1800p), as well as a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate.
Based on the experience of using it, the refresh rate of the Infinix Note 12 VIP can be adjusted as desired. There are at least two options, namely 60Hz and 120Hz.
If you want smoother animations when scrolling the screen, you can take advantage of its maximum performance at 120Hz. However, this will reduce battery life faster.
It's different if you use the refresh rate at 60Hz only. Battery life, guaranteed to last longer.
Well, to make it easier to optimize both, Infinix provides a third option, namely the automatic refresh rate. So it will automatically switch, according to actual use.
To give a spacious impression on the screen, the bezel that is carried is quite thin, and the position of the front camera is placed at the top center. Do not miss the LED Flash which is at the end of the upper right side of the screen.
No need to worry, the placement of the LED Flash itself will not interfere with the user's vision when using this smartphone. This is because its existence is made faint, so that people will not realize the location of the LED Flash itself.
Now about features, Infinix doesn't seem to want to lose. The results of our monitoring through the settings menu on this smartphone, there are at least a total of seven special advantages in the Special Function menu.
First there is Multi-Window Lighting, then MemFusion, Smart Panel, Social Turbo, Game Mode, XClone, and Video Assistant. They all have their own functions and advantages.
Camera
Let's move again to the back, where the Infinix Note 12 VIP, carries three cameras. First, there is the main camera measuring 108 MP (aperture f/1.75, 1/1.67", 1.92µm pixels after 9-in-1 pixel binning).
Then it is also equipped with a 13 MP ultra-wide camera, which can provide dramatic effects, lens depth, and laser auto focus. For video recording, Infinix provides three options, namely 2K, 1080p, and 720p.
The camera features are quite diverse, ranging from beauty, super night, slow motion, panorama, time-lapse, and so on. While the front camera, measuring 16 MP whose presence is accompanied by an LED Flash.
This LED Flash, not only works when taking photos. However, it can also be used when taking selfie videos.
Performance
Talking about performance, the Infinix Note 12 VIP is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G96 chipset which is made of 12nm fabrication and supports the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Its greatness also gets the support of 8 GB of RAM, which can be added by 5 GB.
These additions can be done through special features that have been prepared by Infinix. Users can enter the Special Function menu in settings, then select MemFusion.
Later, you can choose the amount of additional RAM that has been provided. Just press Set Virtual RAM, and choose to add 2 GB, 3 GB, or 5 GB.
Before deciding to try out his ferocity in devouring several mobile games, we first entered the XArena feature. The goal is to be able to empower the advantages of the Dar-Link Engine, where users can optimize the graphics of the game to be played.
On the Graphic Enhancement menu, players can choose from three graphic display modes, including Classic, Colorful, and Soft. Well, through the Message Do Not Distrub feature, it seems that Infinix knows very well the needs of gamers who don't want to be disturbed when playing online games.
Here, you can activate Message Do Not Distrub and Incoming Call Reject. So, all incoming messages and calls will not interfere with the fun of playing mobile games.
Even though it's not in the gaming phone category, it turns out that with its specs, the Infinix Note 12 VIP is able to devour heavy games like Genshin Impact. Surprisingly, he was able to use the highest graphics quality at 60 FPS.
Not only that, when I tried it with other games like Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile, there were no problems at all. As a mainstream cellphone, it can be said that its performance is quite extreme.
It's just that, if you use it for too long to play games, there will be heat. But don't worry, because the heat doesn't spread throughout the body.
The most noticeable part is more towards the side of the rear camera. For the middle and bottom positions the smartphone is still fairly safe.
A little information, maybe the heat can be overcome, considering Infinix provides a nine-layer graphene cooling system and vapor chamber. It can suppress the heat, and keep it stable when playing games for a long time.
To emphasize its greatness, here are the benchmark results of the Infinix Note 12 VIP from a number of related applications. Although the score obtained is not too high, it is enough to be a threat to cell phones in its class.
PCMark: 9.008
Antutu: 336,852
Geekbench Single Core: 510
Geekbench Multi Core: 1,756
Battery
The battery capacity of the Infinix Note 12 VIP is quite large, which is 4,500 mAh. We also tested it with PC Mark Work 3.0 Battery Life, the results obtained were 11 hours 54 minutes.
But unfortunately, similar to some other smartphones, when playing games with high graphics quality, the battery is quite wasteful. However, gamers don't need to worry, considering that the Infinix Note 12 VIP is equipped with 120W super fast charging.
It is predicted that it will only take 17 minutes until the 4500 mAh battery is fully charged. This ability is usually found in high-end phones, however, now you can feel it on this smartphone.
It can even be said, not all high-end phones carry the 120W Hyper Charger capability. So that these advantages become an added value, in addition to its performance devouring several mobile games.
Our Opinion
Of all the advantages it offers, it seems to be a reasonable price, if the Infinix Note 12 VIP . By design, he looks stylist, modern, elegant, and looks premium.
In terms of screen and camera, it can't be doubted. User satisfaction when watching videos, scrolling activities, becomes more stunning and spoils the eyes.
The shots are also very good. This is based on a 108MP main camera, plus a 13MP ultra-wide camera that gives a dramatic more immersive impression.
Problem performance does not need to be explained again. Relying on the MediaTek Helio G96 chipset which is made of 12nm fabrication, and support for the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, the Infinix Note 12 VIP can play mobile games that are quite heavy.
Call it one of them, namely Genshin Impact, where the settings can touch the highest graphic quality with 60 FPS. Not to mention the collaboration of the chipset, with 8GB of RAM memory which can be added up to 13GB.
