US further tightens ban on trade in technology components to China

A few weeks ago, the United States government tightened the ban on the trade of technology components by companies AMD and NVIDIA to China, especially components of processing chips with artificial intelligence capabilities.

Recently, three new companies have been ordered to limit trade with the Chinese government, including KLA Corp, Lam Research Corp and Applied Materials Inc, which are best known for developing processing chip manufacturing equipment.

For these three companies, the United States government says that they are not allowed to sell any processing chip manufacturing equipment using the 14nm process below (12nm, 10nm) and need to obtain a Commerce Department license first to sell it to companies in China.

This move by the United States government is quite interesting because some Chinese companies such as Huawei in particular have begun to develop their own processing chip manufacturing sector that does not require help from any outside parties, especially when the economic sanctions imposed also include companies based in countries that friendship with the United States.
