Google Japan Unveils Gboard Bar – Inline Keyboard With 101 Keys

Google Japan regularly comes up with jokes about keyboard technology. But it was all just a gimmick, until recently they launched the Gboard Bar. Gboard Bar is an inline keyboard with 101 keys.

According to them, this Gboard Bar was created so that users don't have to search for which key they want to press and can continue from start to finish to press the desired key. In addition to them, this keyboard is built because the word キー (kii (key)) from the "keyboard" キッチト (kii-bou-do), is getting attention so this time they want to give the 泽 (bou) part a chance to stand out. This part means bow (staff/bar).

Google Japan also stated that their products are more ergonomic, as typing on a long keyboard can stretch your hands for light exercise while working. Even when pressing the keys close to the tip of the foot can also accidentally stretch.

The Gboard bar has 17 circuit boards combined together, has a length of 1650mm, uses an ASCII and “1D QWERTY” layout, and will also have a variation for gaming with RGB lights and special key types for emoji.

They did not say whether it will be sold or not. This product may seem like a joke, but Google Japan also provides blueprints, circuit diagrams, 3D files, downloadable software and other important files for DIY users to build at home.

Gboard Bar can also be seen to function as a kind of handle to help close the switch, use with two people or be used as a walking stick.
