Google and the problem of user privacy separate no. Earlier this year, the tech giant was sued by the US government for location tracking offences.
It happened when Google was found not to inform users that their location was still being tracked even if the function was turned off on their devices. In fact, the data collected by Google has enabled the company to profit from the data.
Recently, Google has been found guilty of the charges and has been sued for $392 million (~RM1.8 billion) to the state governments of Washington, DC, Texas, Washington State, and Indiana in the largest payment of a lawsuit related to privacy issues to date.
The Google lawsuit case is not over yet because the Texas government has also filed another lawsuit against the company where Google also collects users' biometric data without their permission and knowledge.
