Ericsson And DNB Record World Record For 5G Speed Reaching 1Gbps At Distance 11.18km Using mmWave

Ericsson and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) have now set their own world record, when they managed to reach 5G speeds of up to 1Gbps at a distance of 11.18 kilometers using mmWave radio antennas.

This test was carried out using a radio antenna in Butterworth, Penang. This test is performed using 28GHz mmWave waves.

Through this test, it simultaneously demonstrates the ability to use mmWave for long distances, through Ericsson technology.

Previously, mmWave was used only at short distances, despite offering high speed and low latency. With this test after test, it will allow people to enjoy 5G technology using mmWave at a long distance.

For now, it is not yet known when this support will be commercially available.
