Last week, we reported that the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also the Minister of Finance confirmed that the company Digital Nasional Berhad and the 5G network equipment contract given to Ericsson worth RM11 billion will be re-evaluated.
Recently, the Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil has said that the re-evaluation has already begun, and the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Digital Communications and Digital Nasional Berhad will meet to discuss various matters related to the development of the country's 5G network.
A few weeks after this meeting, when the assessment has found a reasonable solution, a briefing will be presented to the Prime Minister on the direction of the development and offering of the 5G network for local users.
It is expected that the matters that will be discussed during this tripartite meeting include in terms of the contract offer to Ericsson, the evaluation of technical aspects and how best to ensure that this network can be used and enjoyed by the people in Malaysia.
