The United States House of Representatives issued an official notice banning the installation of the TikTok application on devices maintained and issued to staff. Applications must be deleted if installed and reinstalling is strictly prohibited. As with some of the reasons given before, TikTok allegedly poses the risk of device users being spied on by China.
This directive will affect not only the members of the House of Representatives but also all their staff. This drastic step was taken after several states in the United States also banned the installation of TikTok on government-owned devices provided for work purposes.
TikTok has repeatedly denied that they allow the data of US users to be spied on by third parties. As a measure to increase trust, user data has been transferred to an Oracle-owned browser in the United States.
