The Fortnite app was kicked out of the App Store after Epic Games offered in-app purchases (AIP) using their own system and bypassed the App Store payment system. Apple sees this as a violation of the terms and conditions as it wants to take a 30% cut on every transaction made. Therefore since 2020, the Fortnite application can no longer be downloaded on the iPhone.
But on January 1, Tim Sweeney who is the CEO of Epic Games sent a tweet that gave a sign that Fortnite might return to iOS devices this year. This is most likely related to Apple saying they will allow sideloading applications to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in Europe which requires alternative application stores to be supported on mobile devices.
Before being banned from the App Store, Fortnite was one of the first to record the highest revenue in the App Store and Play Store.
