Telegram is releasing a lot of new features to close out 2022. One of them is the option to send blurred photos like spoilers.
The biggest update brought is for photo editing. Telegram's drawing and writing tools can now dynamically change line width according to how fast the user is drawing and automatically smooth all lines.
When adding text to photos or videos, users can also change the size, font type, and background. All Telegram users can also insert custom animated emoji into text on images, not limited to Telegram Premium subscribers only.
Users can also add shapes such as boxes, circles, arrows, stars, and chat bubbles by simply tapping the 'plus' icon in the photo editor.
Telegram has also added a new feature for photo blurring which allows users to hide sensitive information in photos or videos, or blur the faces of strangers that appear in the background.
To make the blurred parts look unified, Telegram says users can use the 'eyedropper' feature to match the color of the blur brush to the photo, as quoted from The Verge, Monday (2/1/2023).
If you send a photo but don't want the recipient to see it right away, you can also add a spoiler effect to the photo which will give a shimmering layer to the photo or video. New message recipients can view the content after tapping on it.
In addition to a series of photo editing features, Telegram's latest update also features a new storage option that allows users to delete cached data in private, group and channel chats after a certain amount of time. Telegram also released a new pie chart that shows how much storage space photos, videos, documents and music are taking up.
There is also a new setting that allows users to choose a profile photo for other contacts. But this profile photo is only visible to the user. In addition, users can also suggest profile photos for certain contacts.
If you've restricted your profile photo to only your contacts, Telegram has also added an option to set a public profile photo that everyone can see. On the other hand, you can also set the profile photo visibility to 'nobody' so that no one can see your photos.
