Windows 11's File Explorer Will Receive Another Interface Update

In April last year, Microsoft introduced a new File Explorer design with contextual search and tabbed features so that users no longer have to open multiple windows at the same time.

This update allows File Explorer to be used to find files from cloud services and is no longer limited to the user's device. The Tab feature that has been offered since the development version of Windows 10 four years ago is also returned, making it easier for users to manage files.

Recently, Windows Central reported that File Explorer will be redesigned with a new design. The mockup design received by the source shows a more modern design of the search bar, directory box, new "Home" icon and function icons like copy, paste, new folder moved below with its own bar.

The home page now integrates Microsoft 365 which suggests files for quick user access, as well as the ability to search for emails. The side panel has been updated with a neater design, and in the future the gallery section on File Explorer will also allow users to view images by simply moving the mouse over the thumbnail image.

This update is said to arrive on Windows 11 23H2, which is the middle of this year. Usually it will be distributed to users of the development version before being offered to everyone.
