3 Sophisticated Technologies in the 200 Megapixel Camera Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra have been released by Samsung and are now in pre-order in Indonesia. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is of course the most prominent, with a 200 megapixel camera. Here are 3 facts about the Galaxy S23 Series camera, as compiled by us from Samsung's statement:

ISOCELL HP2 technology

The Adaptive Pixel 200MP Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G comes thanks to ISOCELL HP2, Samsung's newest image sensor, enabling sharp image details with 16 times higher resolution without the camera size being too large. The ISOCELL HP2 packs 200 million 0.6μm pixels in the 1/1.3" optical format which is widely used in 108MP cameras.

So, users can get a higher resolution without a bigger camera. ISOCELL HP2 also carries Pixel-binning Tetra.2pixel technology, which allows the camera to capture minimal noise in every lighting condition.

ISOCELL HP2 is also equipped with Super QPD technology to offer sophisticated auto-focus capabilities, especially in low light conditions. So it can autofocus more accurately with minimal shutter lag, even in 1lux conditions which are equivalent to room conditions only lit by a candle.

ISOCELL HP2 is also equipped with Dual Slope Gain (DSG) where the device will get more vivid, more detailed, and minimally blurry HDR photos in bright, low light conditions, or a combination of the two.

Then, the ISOCELL HP2 allows 8K recording at 30fps and 4K at 60fps with HDR quality and a wider angle, so the resulting video is claimed to be more complete, sharper and more cinematic, including in low light conditions, nightography.

WiderOIS and Expert Raw

The Galaxy S23 Series 5G is supported by doubling the Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) angle in all directions to increase camera stability when taking pictures in low light conditions, including when you have to use a slower shutter speed or record while moving. Photos and videos in low light are even better.

Then, the Night Selfie feature is okay thanks to the support for the Super HDR camera which Samsung introduced for the first time on the Galaxy S23 Series 5G, for sharper selfies in the dark. Then, the Night Portrait feature has now been equipped with the latest AI object recognition for more detailed and realistic low light portraits.

The Galaxy S23 Series 5G incorporates the Expert Raw feature in the camera menu, so users can capture the beauty of stars with Astrophoto, like a professional camera without special tools. This feature also has a Multi Exposure mode to get creative with professional photography techniques to combine two or more images in one frame.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy support

One more thing that distinguishes the 200MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G and Galaxy S23 Series 5G compared to other devices is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform chip for Galaxy.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy has an NPU that is 49% more optimized than before for high-level processing, for example maximizing the latest AI for focusing to automatic exposure settings. There is also a Bokeh Engine 2 for better sharpness, depth and color range in portrait photos and Mega Low light photography supported by Multi-frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) for more optimal noise correction in low light.

Equipped with the latest AI-based Image Signal Processing (ISP) algorithm, the camera is claimed to be more optimal at correcting noise and displaying more details and colors when capturing moments in low light.
